The "Support to the international insertion of Brazilian SMEs" project aims at strengthening the international competitiveness of Brazilian SMEs in order to develop their exports. The activities of the project are divided into three main areas:
- Improving the business environment for the international operations of Brazilian SMEs, through the identification and adaptation to the Brazilian context of best European practices, and through the improvement of statistical information systems supporting political decision-making in this field
- Improving the quality and the cost-efficiency of services targeted at SMEs and therefore of SMEs products and services in the following areas: financial services, information and commercial intelligence, metrology and certification with regard to international technical standards, sanitary and phytosanitary regulations
- Improving the competitiveness and export capacity of selected SMEs and groups of SMEs, through professional training of SMEs businessmen, managers, and technical external commerce agents, and support to a number of selected projects aiming at strengthening the internationalization of SMEs
The specific objective of the mission was to prepare the global work plan and the first annual work plan of the project, according to the EC regulations applying to ALA projects, in order to start the project in the last trimester of 2006
